When luxury vinyl flooring (LVF) is cut into square, groutable tile-sized pieces, it is referred to as LVT. LVF follows all current industry trends so that you can get luxury vinyl tile floors in an almost unlimited number of colors and patterns and various shapes and sizes, including large format and mixed width.

LVT is also meant to echo stone tiles, whether it's marble, granite, slate, terrazzo, quartz, or limestone. While many feel the extra seams add to the realism and take it even further by using grout, while others prefer the plank cut. With vinyl plank (LVP), the material is cut into strips and mounted on boards to mimic hardwood, but some also use it for stone mimics. They feel the large format and fewer seams make it look more like that of a stone slab.

Stylish savings

LVF's images are true-to-life representations of wood, stone, or tile, taken with 3D photography and including micro beveling and embossing to add depth and dimension. With textured appearances such as wire-brushed, hand scraped, weathered and distressed, it’s sometimes impossible for the experts to discern that from the real thing, but you certainly won’t pay the same prices as you would for genuine materials.

follows the current design trends so that you can get anything, from gray or whitewashed floors to marble or granite looks and the vibrant colors and bold patterns of tile. It is finished in matte, gloss, or high gloss colors, addressing another trend: the high-gloss wood floor.

Extreme durability

While all vinyl is durable, this is thicker and should measure at least 8-mm or more. There will be times, especially when opting for vinyl plank, when you'll want the authentic hardwood feel, and that comes with a 10-mm or 12-mm thickness. LVF is layered and, at the top, is a clear, strong melamine wear sheet that protects the floor from scratches and scuffs. This layer should measure at least 20-mils; also, it is low maintenance, only requiring a daily sweeping and weekly mopping. Installation can be an uncomplicated floating floor that is click, mat, and hover.
